Rare breeder, common migrant, overwinters. There are three documented breedings until the 1980s. After then, the number of breeding pairs increased by the millennium. In the last two decades, the population decreases. Spring migration (January–March) peaks in March, autumn (September–December) in December, but can be observed through the year. The trend of seasonal peaks on waterfowl monitoring sample areas is declining (?2.0 ± 0.7%, p=0.01).
